Ryan Shields, 40, of Fairless Hills, pleaded guilty to drug delivery resulting in death after his wife Amanda Shields fatally overdosed on fentanyl in August 2020, said the Bucks County District Attorney's Office in a statement Tuesday, Nov. 29.

According to investigators, the fentanyl was pressed into a pill the same size, shape, and color of a 30mg Percocet.

Police say Shields obtained 10 of the pills from his supplier, Patric Hish, who in turn received them from another dealer, Francis Nungesser.

Amanda Shields was declared dead on Aug. 11, 2020, after taking one of the pills, and an autopsy later determined fentanyl toxicity was the cause of death, authorities said.

Detectives also spoke with a man who bought one of the pills from Shields. That man told authorities he "believed he was going to die from ingesting the pill," according to the DA.

Hish and Nungesser were also convicted of drug delivery resulting in death, authorities noted. Hish, 33, of Brookhaven will spend three to six years behind bars, while Nungesser, 44, of Morrisville, received a five-and-a-half to 12-year sentence, the DA added.
